PONT3 & BLACKMORES RUNNING FESTIVAL
Pont3 is the rights holder and organiser of Australia’s most spectacular Running Festival, the Blackmores Sydney Running Festival held in September each year. The event is an all-encompassing brand experience campaign for Blackmores and other sponsors who engage consumers through their distribution channels, online, above the line and face to face through the event.
Pont3 works with Blackmores and other event sponsors to develop and implement marketing, promotional, media and leverage programs to engage their consumers and provide an amazing brand experience that is remembered.
The Sydney Marathon is the sole remaining participant legacy of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. It started in 2001 when the NSW Government approved the continuation of a marathon in Sydney to promote fitness and health for the NSW community. The event takes in Sydney’s icons, such as the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House. All participants cross the deck of the Harbour Bridge (traffic-free) and 3 of the 4 events finish at the Sydney Opera House. In 2013 alone there were 34,286 registered participants in the event.
In 2014 the Blackmores Sydney Marathon was awarded an IAAF silver label recognising the event as a world class road running event.
BANNERSHOP’S PARTNERSHIP WITH PONT3 & THE BLACKMORES RUNNING FESTIVAL
For the past 3 years Bannershop has been partnering with Pont3 on the Blackmores Running Festival, providing a wide range of outdoor signage solutions for this event. The solutions provided by Bannershop include: pull up banners, outdoor vinyl banners (both high-res & standard-res), Corflute A-frames, fabric wall units, plus wind flags and stands.
The challenges for Bannershop in supplying the signage solutions for the Blackmores Sydney Running Festival were not just in supplying the volumes of product required, but also in the fact that there are over 55 event sponsors, partners, suppliers and charities involved. Many of these entities require help in promoting their products &/or services and brand via signage during the event, each strictly within their own branding guidelines.
“Working with all of our different partners and providing the right solution can be a big challenge” said Nicola Bentley - Client Services and Sponsorship Director at Pont3. “From charities to corporations, to government entities… there are many stakeholders, each with their own brand entities and strict brand guidelines.”
MISSION-CRITICAL DELIVERY
The keys to a successful partner/supplier relationship in a major international event like this is to provide the products and services within the allocated budget, meet the quality requirements of all the partners and the brands they represent, and deliver on time regardless of how tight the deadlines are. It requires both careful planning and flexibility to achieve these objectives.
“Because of the nature of the event, Bannershop has been flexible and always able to supply both permanent and temporary signage, as required” Said Nicola. “Bannershop have always kept sight of the brief, and been able to walk us through solutions, as well as make recommendations that we may not have considered previously”
As circumstances often require last minute changes in projects like this, it has been crucial for Bannershop to demonstrate rapid-response to changes as well as flexibility and agility in the delivery of solutions.
Nicola concluded: “It is important when there are last minute changes and when working to tight deadlines, that everyone focuses on the task at hand and do not become flustered. Our Bannershop Account Manager has always been personable, calm – consistent, always on time and always on top of everything. Truly, she has been solution-driven.
An understanding of the needs of the Event (as well as the individual needs of all our partners), while being able to produce high-quality signage solutions on time - and on budget, is what Bannershop brings to the event”
